COVID-19: Update for Patients
An update on the COVID-19 vaccine: The vaccine is being made available in phases, based on a number of eligibility criteria, such as your job type or if you’re at higher risk of serious illness. Invitation to Health is not a registered clinic to administer the COVID-19 vaccine.
To check your eligibility & book your COVID-19 vaccine go to https://covid-vaccine.healthdirect.gov.au/eligibility
Update: In accordance with current advice from NSW Health, please wear a mask to your in person appointment.
To all our patients and community, we hope you have all you need to take care of yourselves and your family in this time.
Our GPs and practitioners are here to support you. Consultations that don’t require an examination can now be converted to bulked billed telephone or online consultations for this next week. From next week, we are told that to ensure the viability of general practice there will be facility to pay a gap for the teleconsults.
The government support for keeping general practices open for continuing patient care has increased and we are now able to continue your care in much the same way as previously by phone or video consultation. We will be calling you to offer a phone consult if it is appropriate. If we have not been able to contact you, please call our friendly reception team to see if a telephone or online consult would be appropriate in place of your visit. Online consults will be available via telephone or an app that reception will link to you (just getting that organised now).
Some people will need to come in as they require a face to face appointment and an examination or intervention. We want to assure you that we have everything in place to make your appointment as safe as possible.
What to Do if You Have Symptoms
Just another reminder if you are coming to the clinic for an appointment, please call reception if you have the following symptoms before coming in: sore throat, fever, fatigue, shortness of breath or a cough. (Be patient, our phone lines are busier than usual.) Please only attend the practice with these symptoms if advised by our team, and please wait at the front door for one of our staff to come and talk with you.
If you are unable to get in touch with us, Gosford Hospital has a COVID-19 Clinic and can be contacted on 02 4320-5055. They are also available weekends from 10am – 4pm.

What You Can Do to Take Care of Yourself
It is important during these uncertain times to remain calm, minimise stress and ensure you are providing your body with all the essential nutrients to maintain a strong immune system, providing the best defence against any potential viruses. Please be mindful that as we start to experience cooler weather, we are also faced with other colds and flus.
Immune supportive therapies include ensuring optimal levels of Vitamin D, Vitamin C & Zinc and consideration of herbs that support the immune system. If this approach interests you, you can contact your GP or our naturopath, Kim Scott-Puata, face to face or via a telephone consultation.
In addition to hand washing, avoiding touching your face and the other current recommendations, you can:
- wash clothes in 40-degree water, especially if you are exposed to people who are unwell
- drink lots of warm liquids to flush your mouth & throat
- use saline nasal spray to clean your out your nose
As always, maintain adequate hydration and sleep, and be gentle on yourself and on others.
