Chronic Muscle Pain and Remedial Massage

If you are experiencing chronic muscle pain, chances are remedial massage could help you! In my practice, I have had the privilege of helping dozens of people with chronic muscle pain and have found that they experience a wide range of benefits.

  • Pain relief:-
Remedial massage helps increase blood flow to the affected muscles, which in turn can reduce inflammation and ease pain.
  • Improved Range of Motion (ROM):-
Reduced muscle tension and improved flexibility can be achieved through the stretching functions of Muscle Energy Technique (MET) and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF). Clients find a rapid improvement in a fuller ROM in the affected joints and muscles.
  • Relaxation:-
Drawing from my experience with Myofascial Release, Remedial Massage, Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy Cupping, Muscle Scraping (blading) and Essential Oils in combination, these treatments result in reduced tension and chronic pain issues.
  • Stress reduction:-
Chronic pain can often lead to increased stress and anxiety. Using Mechano-transduction (the mechanism by which cells convert mechanical signals – pressure MASSAGE technique – into a biochemical response in the body) triggers a release of endorphins which helps reduce stress levels.
  • Sleep:-
Chronic pain can disrupt sleep. Clients often report that, after a treatment, they experience improved sleep – not for just one night but for multiple nights.
  • Increased circulation:-
As described above, massage increases blood flow and lymphatic flow, which helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to the muscles while aiding in the removal of waste products. If you are planning a cleansing diet or gearing up for spring after a winter binge of a season of comfort food and hibernation, book a LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE TREATMENT and notice how the body responds to some TLC.
  • Increase serotonin levels:-
Massage therapy has been found to increase serotonin levels, which can help improve mood and overall well-being.
  • Improve mental and emotional wellbeing:-
Chronic pain can take a toll on individuals mental and emotional health. Regular massage can provide relief and promote a sense of well-being.
  • Holistic approach:-
Massage therapy takes a holistic approach to chronic pain management; the subtle art of receiving time can influence your whole being – physical, mental and emotional.  Each treatment is customised and designed with you in mind.

Finding our presence. We are complex beings, with amazing and constantly racing minds brimming with thoughts, feelings and ideas. Learning to still and quieten that racing, enables us to access the deeper part of ourselves that might be called ‘spirit’. Eckhart Tolle refers to being in an ‘alert space’ where we can find ‘the presence behind the person’.
